Each year between May and November hotels and tour operators throughout Belize put together great travel specials to entice visitors to experience Belize's Green season. The green of the grass and trees provide a verdant background for the kaleidoscope of color emanating from the tropical flowers in full bloom. The air is crisp and clear and the skies are as blue as the Caribbean Sea lying offshore!
The busier time of Belize's tourist season coincides with the winter months of
the northern hemisphere when Belize's warm temperatures and balmy trade winds
offer a perfect escape from gray skies and sub zero temperatures. Warmer temperatures
come May and June with more availability in hotel bookings and great deals to
be had. Travel deals take all forms including: Free nights, Kids stay for free
and room rates from 20-40% off. Some of the best deals can be found sorted by
location - Island, Coastal or Inland at www.summerinbelize.com with great options
for combining packages for several locations.
And if you were thinking that it's too hot in the tropics during the summer here are some quick facts:
choice of places to stay is extensive - from budget to luxury, beach
side condo to jungle
lodge. The activities extensive - hiking,
diving, snorkeling, canoeing, zip-lining, spa packages or my personal favorite
Even with prices going up everywhere, a Belize vacation is affordable and GREAT
value and NOW is the time!
- In Belize temperatures are comparable to many places in the USA during the summer months. Ocean breezes and the shade of the coconut trees offer refuge and comfort along coastal areas. Inland, the jungle canopy, rolling hills and fresh water rivers and waterfalls provide relief from the heat.
- Belize has two seasons, wet and dry. The summer months are in the wet season, but rainfall varies significantly by location in the country. Periodic showers, usually at night, make this the "green season". The rain showers during the day are usually brief and intermittent and do not normally hamper outdoor activities.
- Yes, it is hurricane season from June until mid-November. However, historically, most hurricanes occur between August and October in Belize. Hurricanes form over a period of several days and even weeks. The path of the storm is tracked and predicted using the latest technology which enables the areas to be affected ample time to prepare for the storm. Thanks to NEMO (National Emergency Management Organization), Belize has a thorough emergency plan ready to be enacted in the event of a hurricane.
- Contrary to summer travel in the US and other parts of the world, Belize is not crowded during the summer months. Actually, with a population of only 250,000 people it is never crowded, even with tourists! The "high-season" for travelers in Belize is during the fall and winter months, when it is cold in the north. The summer months are the slower times of the tourist season and thus offer discounts, deals and lower rates for travelers.
Make time for the adventure of your life in Belize this summer!
