Belize at 25

By the Naturalight Team

September is one of the quietest months for visitors to Belize but that doesn't mean that it is quiet in Belize. Belize's September celebrations commemorates two historic occasions:

  • the historic battle of St. George's Caye on September 10th, 1798 when the British settlers, with the assistance of slaves, fought off the Spanish seeking to reclaim this tiny territory
  • Belize's independence from England on September 21st. 1981
This year, Belize celebrated it's 25th anniversary as an independent nation and the month leading up to September 21st. was marked with a host of, pageantry, ceremony, festivity, contests, parades and displays of patriotism.

We hope you will enjoy these glimpses into this year's celebrations. Click on image below to start slide show of images.
