September is one of the quietest months for visitors to Belize but that doesn't mean that it is quiet in Belize. Belize's September celebrations commemorates two historic occasions:
- the historic battle of St. George's Caye on September 10th, 1798 when the British settlers, with the assistance of slaves, fought off the Spanish seeking to reclaim this tiny territory
- Belize's independence from England on September 21st. 1981
This year, Belize celebrated it's 25th anniversary as an independent nation and the month leading up to September 21st. was marked with a host of, pageantry, ceremony, festivity, contests, parades and displays of patriotism.
We hope you will enjoy these glimpses into this year's celebrations. Click on
